AI Transparency & Disclosure
Last Updated: July 4, 2026 · [email protected]
9rank.ai is committed to transparency about how we use artificial intelligence across all of our products. This disclosure is designed to comply with the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and emerging AI governance standards worldwide.
1. AI Systems We Operate
9rank.ai deploys AI systems across the following product lines:
1.1 9Rank SEO
- AI Site Audit: Uses large language models (LLMs) to analyze website structure, content quality, and technical SEO factors. Generates natural-language recommendations and scores.
- Authority Checker: Proprietary scoring algorithm (9R Score) that combines traditional link metrics with AI-powered content and trust analysis.
- AI Content Detector: Classifier model that estimates the probability of text being AI-generated vs. human-written.
- Content Writer: Uses LLMs to generate SEO-optimized articles and content from keyword inputs.
- Content Rater: AI-powered evaluation of content quality across 9 criteria.
- Copy Checker: Combines AI analysis with source database matching to detect potential plagiarism.
- AI Search Checker: Simulates AI search engine behavior to evaluate content readiness for AI Overviews, GEO, AEO, and NEO.
- Keyword Intent Classifier: ML model that classifies search queries by intent (informational, transactional, commercial, navigational).
1.2 RAG9
- Knowledge Base Indexing: Uses AI to crawl, normalize, chunk, and vectorize content from websites, e-commerce platforms, and APIs into a RAG-ready knowledge base.
- Semantic Search: Vector similarity search powered by AI embeddings for knowledge retrieval.
- Content Enrichment: AI-powered metadata extraction, entity recognition, and content classification.
1.3 Kernel9
- AI Chatbot: RAG-powered conversational AI that responds to customer queries using your knowledge base. Supports 200+ languages.
- Smart Routing: AI-based intent detection to route conversations to the appropriate department or human agent.
- Response Suggestions: AI generates suggested responses for human agents during live chats.
2. AI Model Providers
We use a multi-model orchestration approach (the “9RAI Engine”) that routes queries to the most appropriate AI model. Our current model providers include:
| Provider | Models Used | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI | GPT-4o, GPT-4o-mini | Content analysis, generation, classification |
| Anthropic | Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Claude 3 Haiku | Content analysis, safety-sensitive tasks |
| Gemini 1.5 Pro, Gemini 1.5 Flash | Multi-modal analysis, high-throughput tasks |
All model providers are accessed via their official APIs under commercial agreements. We do not fine-tune or host these models ourselves.
3. How AI-Generated Content is Used
- Audit Reports: AI generates natural-language analysis, recommendations, and scores. These are informational and should not be treated as professional advice.
- Content Generation: The Content Writer produces articles that require human review before publication. We recommend all AI-generated content be edited and fact-checked.
- Chatbot Responses: Kernel9 AI chatbot responses are generated from your knowledge base using RAG. Accuracy depends on the quality and completeness of your indexed content.
- Scores & Ratings: The 9R Score, Content Rating, and Keyword Difficulty scores are AI-assisted estimates. They are not guaranteed to predict actual search engine behavior.
4. Data Handling for AI Processing
- No Training on Your Data: We do not use your personally identifiable content to train public AI models. Any service-improvement data is strictly anonymized and aggregated.
- Minimum Data Transmission: When processing through third-party AI APIs, we transmit only the minimum data necessary for the task.
- No Persistent Storage by Providers: Our agreements with AI providers prohibit them from storing or using your data for model training. OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google API terms all include zero-data-retention provisions for API usage.
- Data Residency: AI processing primarily occurs in United States data centers. See our Data Processing Agreement for details on international transfers.
5. Limitations and Risks
AI systems have inherent limitations. Users should be aware of the following:
- Hallucinations: LLMs may generate plausible-sounding but factually incorrect information. Always verify critical claims independently.
- Bias: AI models may reflect biases present in their training data. We actively monitor for and mitigate bias in our scoring and classification systems.
- Non-Determinism: The same input may produce slightly different outputs on different occasions. This is normal behavior for LLM-based systems.
- Currency: AI model knowledge has a training data cutoff date. Real-time data (e.g., current rankings, live prices) is fetched from live APIs, not generated by AI.
- Not Professional Advice: AI outputs do not constitute legal, financial, medical, or professional advice. You are solely responsible for actions taken based on AI-generated content.
6. Human Oversight
- Content Writer: All generated content is presented as a draft requiring human editorial review. We do not auto-publish AI-generated content on your behalf.
- Kernel9 Chat: Conversations can be escalated to human agents at any time. The AI chatbot indicates when it cannot answer a question and offers human handoff.
- Audit Reports: AI-generated recommendations are supplementary. Final decisions about SEO strategy remain with the user.
7. EU AI Act Compliance
Under the EU AI Act classification framework:
- Risk Classification: We classify our AI systems as limited risk (requiring transparency obligations) rather than high risk, as they do not make decisions in areas such as employment, credit, law enforcement, or critical infrastructure.
- Transparency Obligations: This disclosure fulfills our obligation to inform users that they are interacting with AI-generated content. Kernel9 chatbot conversations are clearly labeled as AI-powered.
- Record-Keeping: We maintain logs of AI system inputs and outputs for a period consistent with our Privacy Policy data retention schedule.
8. AI Ethics Principles
Our AI development and deployment is guided by the following principles:
- Transparency: We are open about how, when, and why we use AI.
- Fairness: We actively work to identify and reduce bias in our models and scoring systems.
- Privacy: We minimize data collection and transmission, and we do not sell user data.
- Accountability: We maintain human oversight over all AI systems and take responsibility for their outputs.
- Safety: We implement content safety filters and refuse to generate harmful, illegal, or misleading content.
9. Reporting Concerns
